They are in HD thats the best they could do with really old tapes.

They couldn't find the original masters.

They are already in better shape than the original release, thanks to AI upscaling. Since the master tapes are gone, however, we're not getting them unless EA/Petroglyph spare resources to re-record them from the ground up (which some people would scoff at, given that those would no longer be the original cutscenes)

The originals were pretty bad. C&C was in 320x200 256 color VGA graphics. Not much resolution there for FMV.

The remasters look pretty good for being massively up-scaled to fit today's high resolutions. Try and upscale a 320x200 4:3 FMV to a 1920x1080 16:9 FMV on your system and let me know what you end up with. A giant pile of ugly incorrect ratio pixels. So the FMV's look very good for what they had to work with.

Plenty of games have entirely redone cutscenes for remasters. For example Halo 2 Anniversary....

Those are in-game cutscenes though, C&C's are mostly live acted. That's not something you can easily fix with a remaster lmao

You underestimate modern day CGI my friend.

And you are wildly underestimating the cost involved in creating CGI cutscenes that can match the mood and feel of the original FMV ones. Considering the scope of the remaster, doing such a thing would not have been even close to practical. It would have been a ton of money, time, and work for very little real benefit in the end.

The FMV scenes certainly do not look amazing but they do the job just fine and don't really detract meaningfully from the overall product.

EA just barely greenlit this remake you think they would put Star Wars or Avengers money into its CG?

No. But it is not impossible.

Too often we have people who say "Too hard" "Too expensive" "Too much effort".

Bred a whole generation of quitters and lazy people.

So no. Obviously I definitely did not expect it.

Let us know when you get a job that can afford you to buy EA and give us entirely remade CGI for all the cutscenes, oh and not all the actors are alive so you'll have to do some Stars Wars level CGI for those scenes.

But I guess that would be too hard, too expensive, and too much effort for you.

CGI Kane? No one wants to see that, pal.

I think overskies was on about the CGI cut scenes not the FMV ones, If so i would not say no to new ones has long has they leave the FMV ones alone.

Before the remaster i played the games at least once a year so the CGI does not bother me at all . Just hoping for the Tib Sun announcement.

Hard = more effort = more expensive. When you are writing the checks you can make the decisions. Until then you might want to do some research on why you do or do not do things in software development. I will give you a hint. It is about money and ROI.

Working hard on a feature that has little ROI isn't about effort but efficiency. Development is expensive. I'm sorry but working harder in software doesn't create a better product if the product is bad and/or the design is poor. And working hard on a feature or refactor that isn't high priority or that won't make a large impact on the product is just wasted effort and wasted money.

Or people are adverse to hard work these days. I remember when Americans used to be really hard workers and not full of soy.
