Red Alert - Soviet Mission 13A Rant
Alright, this is just a rant, just want to get this out there.

In this mission, you're tasked with the final capture of the Chronosphere, but are warned to never approach the device until after capturing all Radar facilities on the map. Simple, easy, a smash and grab with a solid base defense and build up. So far, one of my favorites.

However, as I got used to modern, stable games with auto save built in, I forgot to do a periodic safety save. Which leads to my first issue. I didn't know where the Chronosphere was because of the constant use of the Allied Gap Generators, I was running Mammoth Tanks around blind to find the towers. Looked around, noticed the Chronosphere design at the edge of a tank column's view of field. I order my tanks back and... the Sphere blows up as its trigger field of view is wider then my tank's.

Oops. Alright. Fine. And no auto save. Alright, lets go eat lunch and come back to replay the mission. Had my food, started up the game, built a better defense line as I knew where things were coming from. Having fun, I decided to throw a spy place scout at the Chronosphere's location to see where the Gap Generators were at.

A minute later, with my Mammoth production just starting, the mission ended in failure. What? Why? Oh... oh... The spy plane triggered the mission failure. The spy plane, an uncontrollable unit, caused me to lose the mission. ♥♥♥♥.

Alright, I feel better. And to be helpful, avoid sending anything to the bottom right of the map, beyond the final cliffs.

How did you get to Soviet Mission 13A? I cannot complete Soviet Mission 12 because all units and buildings become invincible...

Hmm... if I'm not mistaken, if it explodes when you approach it with a unit, it should continue to the next mission.

Alright, finished the Soviet campaign. I started saving every ten minutes or right before making an attack anywhere close to the Chronosphere. Ended up just playing the map and bum rushing Engineers everywhere because why not.

Mission 12? I never had any issue with the map, I was capturing what I wanted to make new units on the front line and only rushed at the end when I got my first set of engineers into the command centers/tech centers around the Chronosphere which triggered a 5 minute timer. Never had any unit go invunerable.

Edward, most of these issues are created from porting a game from 1995 hardware into an engine and new UI from... if I remember, the remaster is using Poly's own engine from 2010ish? Some things I've noticed, like the AI just giving up and no longer getting or using credits are things I've noticed in the 8 Bit line of games.

Nevindar, you lose mission 13x if any unit (Spy Plane included it seems) gets within the Chronosphere's line of sight. Mission Failed. Only way to win is to capture the radars on the map and then either capture the Sphere or capture/destroy everything else.

Mission 14, the final Soviet mission, starts by showing that you've failed the mission because the Sphere blew up anyway. Thanks Kurkov! Stalin almost shot me for your mistake! How the hells did you get honored by becoming the namesake of the blips?

I had this happen too. Did you blow up the techcenter that you were supposed to capture? It seems failing that objective doesn't correctly trigger a mission failure so instead everything becomes invincible.

My first time trying mission 12, I captured the first Tech Center, this was after everything became Invincible. I haven't destroyed any Tech Centers. Regardless of what I do, everything becomes invincible

I'm on this mission. It seems when you use the Spy plane in that area a Allied Longbow for some reason then targets the Chronosphere. At this point the game is over as I have nothing to hit that Longbow with.

I completed Soviet 13B. Playing on hard you do need to remember to save periodically. Use spy planes to scout first, take out enemy power plants to stop their gap generators working which I found only works after you make an assault and destroy their construction yard. Otherwise they just rebuild everything you destroy almost instantly. I had to reload a save after I ran some paratroopers by it to destroy a barracks and they opened up on the Chronosphere destroying it.

Just wait until you try mission 14 on hard. They need to do some tweaking. Yes having a hard difficulty is nice but when you see a light tank destroy one of your mammoth tanks that has over half health something is wrong.

Other than a couple things that need tweaking and one bug I've found, this remaster is amazing.

A solution to prevent them rebuilding is just place an infantry on where they rebuild it. Its the same strategy I use with naval yards and subs.

It's been quite a long time since I last played this, but I think if Longbows attack the Chronosphere, then you can counteract that by using the Iron Curtain on the Chronosphere.

Actually, planes can't trigger cell triggers in missions. Only ground units can. So that must've been something else.

It was the ten or twenty minute mark, I had nothing but heavy tanks, V2s, and a surviving Mammoth, in my base. There was nothing on my end down there besides the Spy Plane.

RA missions were always like this. and HARD as nails. Retaliation had a more balanced campaign. I still love RA to bits though. It's not really a problem of the remaster moreso something that was in the original RA as well.
