Fog in Skirmish
I can't seem to find out how to remove the fog in skirmish. Is it even possible now? The PS1 version of red alert had a cheat combination that allowed you to reveal the full map and spy on the AI if you wanted to see their progress.

Are you really telling me all this time later on PC, there isn't an option to atleast disable it for skirmish, or enter a command to reveal the map?
Thanks.

There was never such an option in the PC version, but I guess if you want to get rid of fog you can edit the rules.ini and give your tanks something like 50 sight range and you can reveal the map pretty effortlessly.

Is this easy enough to do? Also would that mean that my tanks would lock onto enemy tanks at a greater distance after doing so?
Thanks.

If you play RA, then build a tech center of the Allies.
It will launch a satellite that removes the whole fog.

Just google "rules.ini", download it, and stick it into the directory where Red Alert is installed. Use a text editor to open i up, and then find the unit you want to edit (for example, 1TNK = light tank, 3TNK = heavy tank) and set the sight value to 50. This won't affect the unit's behavior, just its sight range.

If you want, you can also edit the bejeezus out of whatever unit stats you want, so you can have tanks shooting nukes, or cruisers zipping around at warp speed. I believe you're not able to join a multiplayer game though unless everyone has an identical rules.ini, so either move the file out or rename it before you join a game.
