Yeah, I can't seem to get past it either. The dog is way too fast.

Same here, seems something on this new remaster broke the tight scripting of this mission.
[SWS] Sterps Jun 18, 2020 @ 7:41pm
As General Plastro said, the scripting is broken.

If you really want to complete this mission, you can simply download and apply a balanced difficulty mod for RA, that removes the debuffs that you get when you play on hard difficulty.

Once applied start the mission, the spy will have the same speed as it did in the original and can make it to the starting point just in time, just like in the original Aftermath mission.
Once you signal for re-enforcements, you can save the game, turn the mod off, restart the game and load the mission up.
This is what i did.

If/when they fix this, they will modify the spy speed to essentially what the mod does anyway

I would imagine you can just increase the spie's base speed in a mod, rather than remove the difficulty modifier, as it has no real impact on game-play in that mission.

Also generally reloading a save with a mod "removed" doesn't work in these C&C games.

Play it on casual or medium difficulty until they release a fix. Brother In Arms wasn't playable on hard difficulty originally (it would always revert back to medium difficulty).

Hard difficulty increases the game's speed beyond the Fastest speed.

Also don't blame yourself, this was one of the hardest Aftermath maps. Your problems wouldn't have ended with that dog :awkward:

It doesn't. This isn't StarCraft II. The highest difficulty does in fact decrease the speed of your units.

Same here! I hope that the developers will fix this bug ASAP. I remember how I played this game 20 years ago on the Playstation 1 and there was no such problem

I wonder if the original Red Alert gave the AI units speed buffs seeing how the mission always reverted to Normal whether you played it on Easy (I was young, okay?) or Hard to balance the mission. But back then there wasn't an achievement for beating it on hard so it wasn't an issue then.

Hopefully they manage to tweak it to be doable.

Beating any mission on Hard is always an achievement.

The original Game has a Hard Mode, but it didn't adjust enemy speed. So that is a fault with Remaster. All Hard Mode did in the original was increase how aggressive the AI was. They would attack more frequently, forcing you to be more intelligent with how you spent your resources.

This is completely wrong. Hard mode in the original RA1 buffs the AI and debuffs you. It does not change the AI's aggressiveness at all.

I think it also adjusted unit prices as well? I think your units would be 10-20% cheaper on Easy and vice versa on Hard mode. This might be for skirmish only, though so I'm not 100% correct. IT was a looong time since I played the original RA1

I don't remember that at all, but I guess I'll take your word for it. But, I know for a fact that unit speed was not increased, otherwise certain missions would become broken.

Is this the mission where you have to infiltrate a building then run back south to the beach with 2 dogs chasing you? If it is, run to the right as you keep heading south. A soldier will shoot the barrels which will kill both dogs. Then just keep running and you'll make it to the beach to call in reinforcements.

You can also go into options and slow the game speed down if you need too.
