You cannot use mods online, only in single player which will turn off some players who wants to play custom gamemodes online, which is actually possible in OpenRA due to how open it is and is on a much different engine.
I think the Remastered is completely beholden and limited to it's old engine, the developers can't do much more for it, it won't make use of modern hardware at all.
Doesn't help.
openra is ways better if you focus on multiplayer. its well balanced and you can host your own dedicated Server for better performance on biggest maps and with thousand of units.
If you would like to experience the single player campaign like it was tought the remaster will be the way to go.
As always, you can get CNCnet and play the campaign exactly as it was in the 90's, or play OpenRA for the more modern multiplayer experience.
I think wanting the new graphics / supporting developers are valid points, but supporting the game in hopes of getting EA to green light a new C&C game is a bit of a false hope though, I feel.
They're a big company. This was probably a somewhat cheap to realize project with only the new sprites and multiplayer system (which is not working well) being the only new things. Creating a new C&C game would be a completely different thing and would require a much bigger budget.
as an adult im very much into foss software and linux.
should i try openRA or this remaster for a good sp experience?
for kane!
Remastered = remastered
So like me if you purely wants the SP experience, go remaster. I hate that 26.99 price tag tho. I think 9.99$ like all the new halo games would have been better
Then again OpenRA is free. Take 2 mins to download. So try it out
Oh? is single-player finally complete?
It was rhetorical :P

One day, one day... Buuuut it also has Dune 2000
You know there's an pixel doubler option and zooming in OpenRA, right?
And what the extra units they added? Any option to turn that off?
And what about the missing multiplayer maps from the original games?
