Game runs at a super smooth consistent framerate.
If you have an Nvidia GPU make sure you have Maximum Performance enabled in the NVCP. If you're using GeForce Experience.. that is known to cause problems with many games performance.
Having proper frametime is extremely important to a smooth visual. Use this software for every game you play, it makes a huge difference in many games.
Yes. The game is installed on an HDD right? Here is some answers from the developers:
"Here’s what we know so far:
The stuttering seems to happen most often in the first playthrough of early missions, or when large armies of units are clashing during open battles or base attacks
The stuttering seems worst if it’s the first playthrough after restarting your computer
The stuttering doesn’t seem to happen as much (or at all) if you’re in the legacy graphics mode
Early reports show the issue is much more prevalent if the game is installed on a standard HDD versus a SDD
These data points lead us to believe the issue is tied to something like texture loading, as the game attempts to load the remastered textures for the first time during a playthrough."
Does RivaTuner work well with Nvidia - no perfomance impact or conflicts?

@gigglebeard, yeah re-reading my first post is a bit hillarious. 2020 --- guys how do I get RedAlert to run on my computer.
(But!!! anyone reading this ---------- It's F'ing amazing this remaster, do yourself a favour and get off the fence)
Like I said, I'm having 0 issues.. and I have a relatively older system then most. I've tested the game on my 60hz, 120hz, 144hz and 1080p/4k.
Try my tips above. This game should have no issues on any modern PC.
RivaTuner is an essential program IMO. Use it for every game. If you are using a HDD make sure you defrag the HDD using a program like Smart Defrag. If you are on an SSD then no need to fix anything there.
If you are using a single HDD for gaming in 2020 it's time to upgrade to RAID 0 HDD setup or SSD. RAID 0 HDD is the best price/performance/capacity ratio. You can buy 2x 1TB WD Blacks for $120 and get 2TB of near SSD like speed for gaming. Almost every Intel motherboard has a built in RAID controller to do this.
My HDD is a single WD Red, not the best for gaming... and I've never de-fragged it.
I try and use my SSD for games but it's not very big.
I used to have a WD Black - but it was way too noisy. Even my WD Red irritates me sometimes, I'm very sensitive to electronic noise.
The rest of my rig is: I7-4790k + 1070ti + 16gb DDR3
Plenty good enough.
I have recently discovered how good frame capping is. It is really essential for a smooth frame rate, I have no idea exactly why... but it's certainly a thing.
Will let you know
It's buttery smooth now.
I have not capped the FPS, I am not using V-sync. Playing Red alert at 144fps <3
Using default settings 'out of the box'
You made my night!, and now I know what I'm doing for the next 48 hours :D
To be honest I'm not really impressed with this remake. I played 1000's of hours of RA when it originally released. The screen feels too zoomed in, options in skirmish were removed like tech level when not using bases, and the constant stutter during skirmishes, especially at higher unit counts.
My rig
i7 6950x 10 core OC 4.4Ghz
32GB DDR4 3200Mhz
1080ti OC
4k Samsung TV for display
Win 10 x64 1909
4x 4TB WD RAID0 where game is installed. OS on Intel 750 1.2TB PCIE SSD.
Glad it helped, make sure you download Smart Defrag from Iobit, keep that HDD clean! Smart Defrag will put the most used/important files on the HDD platter in a matter that is fastest to read.
Modern WD Blacks do not make any noise BTW. I'm also very sensitive to sound and I've never heard anything coming from them in my Corsair Air 540, which is an open air styled case.
Another option is to disable Intel Speed Step in your BIOS. This ramps the CPU speeds up and down to lower power consumption. It can also negatively impact a games performance.. think of a car accelerating and braking.. it's not instantaneous and the slowdown effect is noticeable in the framerates.
As long as you have good cooling, you can disable speed step so your CPU is always running at its maximum potential. This does not increase power consumption when your CPU is idle, so no worries about disabling this feature. It's just a way for massive corporations to cut down on energy consumption.. it's not a necessary feature for home computers.
