People who decide to zerg rush you with engineers 3 mins in....
Why the ♥♥♥♥ do you want to ruin the experience for people who take that time to gather better units instead of being brainless?

It's brainless since they adapted to something easy to pull off
but it isn't easy to pull off at all - unless the other person has no base defence whatsoever

Why in God's name would they purposely make it harder on themselves? "You know I played Baseball with this guy, and he was so low-skill that he held the bat with TWO HANDS instead of ONE!"

The word you're looking for here is *effective.* You're bitter because you're *losing.*

This is a really simple concept: this is a STRATEGY game. If the people you're facing are "brainless" then you should have no trouble *beating* them. If you're truly facing "brainless" opponents and you still can't win? That says more about *you* than them.

Westwood CnCs always had stupid stuff like this. One of many reasons why they never got even close to the mp spotlight. Biggest was probably the lack of fog of war

I have only played 3 Quick matches so far. Won first, lost second, won the third. The game I lost was 5 minutes, the two games I won were 35 minutes of strike and counter strike. I only remember the great, longer games.(that I won, but so nearly lost)
So it's sad, that many players, want rush engineer in first 3 minutes, but just move on. Their loss, it is more of a dreary experience for them, if that is how they get their satisfaction.

Hahahaha this guy, "Take the time", i think you missed the point OP, this is a "real time strategy", not a game of chess...
if you get into a street fight, i aint letting you take the time to get your shirt off, dust your hands & stretch your legs, i'm just going to dunk you and walk away, because its real time!

I am so sorry OP, but your comment made me smile. Getting engineer rush in C&C is like a baptism by fire, its the "Fool's Checkmate" and such.

Just always prepare for early agression with defenses and you should be fine.

As someone who played ALOT with my dad (he likes to rush with low tech units in pretty much every RTS, specially in RA2 onwards), i remember the wonderful losses i had before i learned how to counter them.

Dont be discouraged from the game, some players like to play fast and furious, some like the long game. I am more of a turtle myself, but as of late i have been playing more loose with my doctrine.

I think everyone should strive to be flexible eventually!

In my experience of C&C online, playing 1v1 on official maps favor rushes. That is the most "rational" strategy for try hards. Usually 2v2 or 3v3 games on maps with lots of money gives you better chance to build a beautiful base with superweapons. Official maps have very little money to harvest so it's not very rewarding to invest teching up, the other guy can just sell his con yard and go 1 ref all out rush.

I spent 5 years playing on money maps where it's easy to defend against rushes even if you go greedy 3-4 ref opening and easily get superweapons (since no one would join my game if I host official maps) now I feel like a noob getting rushed each time I play quickmatch.

To everyone who says to build walls... this isn't TS/RA2, lol.

Build minigunners. Or for Nod, flamethrowers. Best way to stop engineers.

No offense but this is literally the....THE..."strategy" to go in RTS PvP games. Yeah it's dumb and cheap, but it works the best. (That's why i never play RTS games in multiplayer. Boring repetative. But if someone plays it, why not using the best strat?)


The better way is to ruch one engineer having a barracks ready to plop down and and engr ready to come out the door. You take an enemy building with the one engr, put the barracks beside it, and let the engrs pour into their base. Faster than tank rushing.

Multiplayer never was that great in C&C until Generals Zero hour.

RA2 had good AI.

If you want to play how you want to play, play with friends or play with AI. In online multiplayer, all's fair in love & war. a couple of minigunners & walling off just the outer side of the building is more than enough to stop some engineers.
This

I tried making a map with the wall for the MCV already built. The AI build in it, but you cannot build next to it because the wall does not belong to your faction. That kinda sucked. So I left one side open. That works for humans, but you still can only build along the wall section you built, not the other 3.
