C&C is too difficult for me to bother
I beat C&C back in the olden times when it initially released, but either they've increased the AI's intelligence or I'm dumber than I used to be, because some of these missions are just a chore to complete, and I don't care enough to bother.

Cheers to Westwood Studios which doesn't exist anymore, for creating an RTS that advanced the genre at release, but I just can't be bothered to chug through these missions to figure out what the mission creator's one true path was to beat the mission. Old school gameplay or something like that

There's no hand holding it's true, you get given some stuff, and are told to get on with it.
Commander.

They didn't increase the difficulty.
Sooo it must be the other option...

I might fire up one of my DOS computers and play the DOS version because I feel things are a slight bit different. Only slightly though, other then the tips and tricks you could do to cheese things out.

Cheesing really works!

I mean, the AI is cheesing, so why shouldn't players do the same?

What cheesing tricks are there on the early missions when you barely have any buildings or units?

I don't remember having any difficulty completing missions on the original release, but maybe my brain has melted away or something

I don't know, AI hasn't been touched, but Tiberium field seems to be empty in a matter of minuttes. I recently tried the old one and there it isn't a "chore" at all (it doesn't even have difficulty settings either), so yes, something is slightly off here...

Enemy units in the corners of the map. Waiting above cliffs until you build something nearby. By the time you reached them, they destroyed already the building.

Don't worry, it's not only you. It took me a dozen approaches to beat NOD 8b.

You are right, they twisted AI, even boosted difficulty of campaign, for example GDI mission 4, where you have to destroy enemy base, in old one, there were 4 SAM sites, one under NOD base, 1 under river, 1 next to bridge and last on the eastern side of map, while destroying it you would recive Airstrike to finish of enemy base. but now they put 2 of those SAM sites under NOD base, one even further away so your greniadiers cant reach it, Next thing riflemans, man they are so hendicaped compared to original game, their range is so short, and not to mention tiberium fields that get empty in quiet few seconds.

If anything they made it easier since you have unit queue now. You can queue and forget. Now you don't need to micro the unit building

So in the original DOS version, not the 95 version but the actual DOS install. There was a multitude of tricks you could do.

When NOD facing GDI and airstrikes. GDI AI would always attack the top most left unit or structure on the map. Knowing this you could always sacrifice a Techie or cheap damaged unit about to die in that corner as airstrike bait.

You could build walls to the enemy base and wall them off. Thus starving them. You can still do that in this version. Does not work in RA though.

You could save one enemy power plant before destroying it in a mission, and with a super fast computer and a harvesting base setup. You could farm up stupid amounts of Tiberium, 100k 200k plus and carry over a ton of credits to the next mission. Does not seem to work from what I tried on this.

One of my favorite tricks. You could "Sell" a defensive structure and then click on it as it is in its selling animation and hit the "S" key to stop it form selling. This trick allows you to keep the defensive structure as it wont sell, but you then keep the troops that popped out from it. So a turret or guard tower would get you 3 mini gunners, Obelisk of Light 5 mini gunners. You could spam this over and over again really quick and get an army of mini gunners for free super quick.

Enemy AI always fills their silo's and credit stock per one harvest dump. So if the AI is out of money and they get on load they go back to full. Have not paid close enough attention to the Remastered but I don't think its working that way. This was useful back then because you could wait cap their silos for lots of money.

Out of all these tricks, only the sandbag walling off seems to work. So thus these missions are a bit tougher without cheesing. That said they are doable but I feel you need to slow the game down (maybe moderate speed) so you can really really micro your troops. Try to spread the damage out. Try to agro with one and run away and hope they chase and not fire at the others.

C&C was really hard compared to red alert so just keep trying. It took me a lot of tries to complete campaings.
