Anyone else getting the "Steam required! Steam initialization or authorization failed!" error?

I'm getting this issue as well.

What do you mean the latest horrible steam version?

Are you also using the old version of the ui and disabled updates?

Edit: This seems to be the case. I updated steam by deleting my steam config file in the main steam folder and it works.

Yup! Had to remove the old version and install the new one. Just remember to cut out the folder with all the games first and paste it back in after installing the new version.

This is what I did:

1) cut out the download location of your Steam games (called E:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps on my computer) and paste it into another location on the same drive

2) close down and uninstall Steam

3) download and install the new version of Steam

4) open Steam

5) close Steam

6) move/paste the folder back to where it was cut from

7) open Steam

Then all your games should be there and you don't have to re-download them all.

Ill have to drop the game and request a refund if its forcing me to use the "new" piece of S-H-I-T UI.

There's no real reason it shouldn't work with the old UI, I'm wondering what Steam did or changed to affect validation. It seems to be two files that don't match right when verifying the download, so it might be possible to fudge it if those are copied from a working install?

Steam is on the warpath to get us to upgrade to the eyebleed version.

This is about the 5th game in the last 2 weeks to not work/suddenly not work anymore after being patched =(

I mean, if it wasn't for achievements, I'd obtain the game via OTHER ways. I bought the top tier limited edition, so I wouldn't feel too bad since I already own it. Just seems a bit silly that it's even an issue when other games work no problem. It's clearly something Valve is doing.

I mean, to keep the old version of the client you not only had to make unauthorized modifications to it, but also disable automated updates. Who the hell knows what changed in their API since then.

I wish they did fix this so the game could be played with the old steam library UI. My PC cannot handle the new UI and constantly lagged with it. For me it is old UI or no steam.
I really hope someone finds a workaround for this so I can play the game.
