back in the days c&c red alert had about 500 mb i know it exatly :D but finally i can play it again remasterd a dream become true

Back when these games were first released, they were on a couple of CD-ROMs a piece because of the video content (briefings, intro's, etc). Obviously in those days, all the video content stayed on the CD's and was only played when needed. Since these are obviously not on a physical format, all that video content gets installed. Additionally. Since this is a remaster we are talking about, all that video content has been remastered into HD as well. Likewise with the music (there is a lot).

Overall, the space required makes sense. It really does come down to the audio and video content.

I mean, I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of it is video and music since the sprites are obviously not going to take a ton of space. The video and music is a core part of these games and since it is all upscaled/remastered to modern resolutions, it obviously is going to take a lot of space.

I am not sure what else to tell you here.

because having 2 games with all their expansions including console missions, remastered audio, 4K content of everyone type, 4 hours of bonus footage and a lot more features doesn't use space right?

When you increase the resolution on video files, the file size scales exponentially.
From something that is 800x600 to 1920x1080 is roughly 2.0x the resolution.

So 2x file size, but also audio side are 'enhanced' in that video as well, so maybe another 2x or more increase.

Then you have the choice of 3 types of 'music/sounds' which triples the amount of audio files while doubling or more for their file sizes.

Of course there are games out there in the www with smaller sizes - but have they real actors in it? Or High Definition Sounds of remastered masterpieces? Do they fit in the real quality of this gigantic title in the whole gaming community?

Oh apparently take a look at the game folder... They seem to have kept the 'folders' with CDs in them... Which is a bit redundant on modern systems.

I honestly wasn't shocked in the slightest. I knew it would be big because of the video and music.

I think you will find it is larger than 18 gig.

In the specs it says that it takes up 25 gig and when looking at the game folder on my system it does in fact take up 25 gig.
