I hated the new art direction and hate all futuristic/sci fi stuff in general.
Generals certainly sealed the deal since it ceased to actually have anything to do with or in common with the lore/setting of C&C at all, and just seemed like it's own thing to cash in on the RTS competitive playing crowd by slapping the label and name recognition on it.
Fingers crossed this starts a rebirth of CnC.
But there is that infamous C&C game that basically everyone hated. I played it because I bought the Origin access just to see how it was.
It's the only C&C game where you can't spam out units and need to actually plan ahead. A LOT.
This.
C&C3 tried but couldn't quite get the same atmosphere as TS had created.
RA3 was way too focussed on Multiplayer and the Actions per Minute crowd. The fact it still had the cheesy story made it bearable, but not by much.
So yeah it went to hell around Generals and kept sliding down.
Firestorm was a really weak addon and afterwards they split the universes up. Brett W. Sperry even went away and made his own Universe at War which has the same idea as C&C has with Aliens coming to earth.
So the story went downhill after Firestorm. The gameplay and graphics with RA3.
I can't even stand the look of RA3. Then there's the skimpy woman in it. A vehicle that throws bears at the enemy. Cell-shading candy store optics.
Generals was when C&C was at a very high point. A very strong and solid entry. All the haters are butthurt over the lack of Kane or freak out over modernizations like a builder unit.
Generals has of all the C&C games perhaps the strongest modding scene and its the only C&C game that I find perfect without mods.
Never liked C&C RA3 as a C&C game and the later ones.
C&C RA 2 was ok. But it was to comic. The first C&C and C&C RA1 where the best.
Tiberian sun was at some point good to ok.. But wasnt very great balanced for units and buildings.
Not true.
And I see nobody ever praising Universe at war. Truth be told both Westwood and Petroglyph were never all that great.
Face it.
Its not like other studios can't make games that are just as good or better. its obvious that all the Generals haters are westwood cultists.
