And Origin was just another Victim of the EA serial studio killer.
it is nowhere near tie fighter
Wing commander may not have been made by EA. They do own the right to the series and would be the one to commit a remake/remaster edition.
Though not quite as powerful, the 3DO was still technically of the same system generation as the Sony Playstation 1 & Sega Saturn. That extra power was definitely used for Super WIng Commander, making it much closer graphically to WC3, though it still used Stills for characters instead of animating them.
I would never encourage any illicit behavior, of course! But for the determined there are ways to experience the best version of Wing Commander made to date.
Sure, when it gets released in 20 years or so.
