Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection

Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection

Rules.ini
Please make it so that Rules.ini (the RA1 name at the time of the file) is part of the custom maps that players can share with eachother... that way this game will be 1000x more awesome for us... It'll allow players to create maps with custom units//buildings opening up a lot of possibilities!

This is awesome....
I still have my old rules.ini files from ancient history... I might have all kind of old versions too with different mods//themes on my old Pentium 4 upstairs. gotta check. If I read it correctly I can just place the rules.ini in my CNCRemastered folder and then start red alert... and it should work... but how does that go with multiplayer? because he aint got my settings then....

I also still have all my old maps I made (weeks of effort). I can also load em in in the map edtior. however now with the max size of map increased it places it in the middle hmm... hopefully its possible to copy paste stuff so i can size them up without weeks of effort again :P
hmm when i place the rules.ini in the D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\CnCRemastered folder it doesn't seem to load it. been digging some logfiles but its not mentioned there. I tried some simple thing to easily see if it works. make refinery 1 credit :p but nope.... anyone got tips for that? :p

I tried both methods personally and hereby verify that simply add RA1 rules.ini file or extracting the remastered rules.ini file and changing the values there DOES NOT work.
The screenshots can't tell whether the modder is using the sourcecode or rules.ini. The result is the same but method is different. Stop saying steam workshop modders use only rules.ini it is NOT that simple now.

Yet it is.

Also my Fireball Dogs mod uses the downloaded rules.ini
thats odd that mine doesnt work.... i have the original RA1 rules.ini in that folder and doesnt work
what about that multiplayer part? will the one who hosts' rules.ini be used then?

No, multiplayer is disabled when mods are active.

You might want to put your rules.ini here

Documents\CnCRemastered\Mods\Red_Alert\<mod name>\CCDATA

in Documents\CnCRemastered\Mods\Red_Alert\<mod name> create a file called ccmod.json

in ccmod.json put this

{ "name": "Mod name here", "description": "Description of mod here", "author": "Your name here", "load_order": 2, "version_low": 0, "version_high": 1, "game_type": "RA" }

if i make it a mod on mod portal, cant i play together with friends with that same mod? if that is not possible I am better off playing the old C&Cs with my rules.ini :P
or i have to incorperate my rules.ini into my own maps... could that be an option then? I hope so............

Could be possible. I haven't test it so I can't say for sure.
i believe I have seen a map that could be downloaded that said that something was modded. it that is possible and someone could help me on my way how i'd make additions to unit changes into a map... then i am very thankfull... I can update my old maps with settings and make some cool scenarios to play :)
yeah... it must be possible in the map itself... remember the ant maps... or the hills have eyes map with the civilians that shoot lasers and nukes... anyone know how to edit like that? the map editor does not seem to support it

I think you package the map with rules.ini when you publish it to the workshop.
