That said, there were things that seriously hampered the game for me, mostly the gimmicky "every unit has a secondary ability" and the hugely vibrant colors, both of which made battlefields hard to read. And while I wasn't crazy about the ore changes (and general attempts to make it more e-sports friendly), those other issues bothered me more.
To it's credit though I'm very happy with their introduction to naval bases, and just making naval combat matter even more. It made for great variety in play styles and even better when tackling co-op missions with a friend.
(It's not a fool's Day joke.)
I played about 10 minutes of RA2, and that was all I could take, which sux as it's a lot of C&C I'm missing out on.
That's a shame. Even though RA1 is my favorite, I still consider RA2 to be more engaging and a perfect "Gateway RTS". You really should give it another shot.
