Very good TTK balance with AFPS style movement and guns, very mature and friendly community, for the most part lol.
Includes not just Renegade, but also A Path Beyond and Tiberian Sun Reborn which are standalone total conversions. It's fun to play Red Alert or Tiberian Sun in first/third person.
APB has really pushed the engine to its limits, it has submarines, jets and all the units that are in RA.
Cool! Is the Renegade the same as the original release (with patches)?
What's the playerbase size like?
I've played both original renegade & Renegade X for years and I feel Renegade X is a step above and beyond what Renegade wished it was.
Plus Ren X is constantly being worked on and improved. So Props for that.
But the coop server always has some people playing.
The most populated servers are Interim Apex, MPF and Rencorner.
Try it, maybe you will
For me, it's exactly like Renegade, except it's better and newer. The devs are still pushing out updates and maintaining the game. If you see vehicle units sporting a large banner, those are devs or at least playtesters helping with development.
The playerbase is small but shouldn't be. I'm pretty sure a lot of people, even those that aren't all that familiar with an already niche part of the C&C universe, will enjoy this.
Doing organized infantry rushes to tip the balance, or roflstomping into the enemy base with a well timed-commander buff is exhilarating :D
What I love about this game is that you can switch roles, entirely depending on your mood, playstyle, the place and time of a match. You can lose your tank, but use your free engi infantryman to repair your own comrades. You can snipe at enemy engineers or special infantry. You can commandeer vehicles ranging from bulky double-barreled, rocket spitting mammoth tanks, up to (my favorite), sleek and fast light tank. There's flying vehicles like the Apacha, Orca or transport heli.
The community is hard to love sometimes, but they are lovable indeed :D There's some great veterans that can really pull a team together and coordinate attacks.
