It's very doubtful they'd return to it, especially with the heavy feedback about it.
Pretty much, thus they opted to go with this remaster instead, after so many years. But bear one thing in mind, ladies and gentlemen. If this remaster, and subsequent remasters, do well, this could be the evidence EA needs to bring C&C back properly.
As far as I'm concerned this is just a cash grab scheme just like how every major gaming company is doing the whole "remastered" garbage to make money off of nostalgia. I'll be passing on this. No Command & Conquer: Generals 1 or 2 makes it not worthwhile to me.
I mean, it's difficult to really say if it is. But it was heavily implied that the Fanbase wanted a remaster, I literally crossed my fingers hoping one day we'd get a up-to-date version of these games. OpenRA is great, but even they have issues and since they are not allowed to do too much of editing on a IP they do not own, with minimal budgets, it doesn't scratch that Itch.
It could be a cash grab, but seeing as they are adding everything in that the original two games had, plus support, plus new features that Dawn lacked "Like skirmish", it might be worth the buy. Besides, this is a test regardless.
Remember, Blizzard's developers who worked on Warcraft 3 years ago haven't really helped with the remaster, from what I've read and heard most of the developers were new and joined via Activision when they merged together.
This Remaster is being developed by the OG's of the Franchise.
I gave up on blizzard ever since they made World of Warcraft. That made it obvious they only cared about monthly subscriptions/money. I was waiting for a Warcraft 4... a sequel to Warcraft 3 at the time but they gave us the finger instead. They basically abandoned the whole RTS genre. What's sad is it took other people way too long to finally realize blizzard didn't care about the gamer anymore just money.
I mean, why would you want to make more games if a MMO you made is the most popular title that funnels a heck ton of cash into your bank? Besides, I think most of their funding always goes to their CGI and cutscenes.
It reminds me of what someone said: "Remember the times when gaming companies were owned by nerds instead of businessman." And that's basically what happened to every major gaming company we see today. They no longer care about the product/game they just care about the best way to rake in the most cash. It's why blizzard started doing the whole monthly subscription crap to play WoW, Diablo, etc. And Electronic Arts is just as bad.
They aren't wrong though. Running a studio is business, you need to make money in order to pay your developers and the game's development and budgets, while I do agree that EA, Activ-Blizz and bethesda, as well as Ubisoft are folllowing in the world of greed, we must understand that at the end of the day, it is a Business, fanbase and hype doesn't pay your bills or help you budget for the next game. But, the studios should look at balancing both keeping customers happy and providing good games.
Exactly. Gaming now is about pushing products on markets, not games on gamers.
"Remember the times when gaming companies were owned by nerds instead of businessman." This is the truth.
It doesnt matter if the devs are new or OG's, you still do what your AAA company tells you to do and under the budget they provide.
Dustin "Cavez" Browder was the lead designer for Generals, then he went to blizzard and made Starcraft 2, thats why if youve played both, youd would find them very similar in a lot of ways. He's left blizzard now, but think about it, even if EA hires him back, do you think they would give him the authority and budget to create a AAA Generals2, in the league of Starcraft 2 in 2010, like how much they give Dice and whoever the ♥♥♥♥ makes their Fifa. They treat their devs like how GLA treats their workers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAVjsRmGDlo. I really dont think so, so ive moved on.
Man, hearing that video makes me want to re-install the disc version of Command & Conquer: Generals I have and play it again. The Global Liberation Army (GLA) was my favorite.
And I agree with you I've lost faith in Electronic Arts a long time ago and I doubt they'll redeem themselves with these remasters.
