Anyway, carry on.

Appears to contain a Dsound file that fixes the issue, since using this I've never encounted anymore looping sounds
Well first of all, I thought it was all strange since i did a full playthrough before. So I deleted the sound files that would loop, but noticed that the music would also loop every 5 seconds, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it while deleting my save data files. After that it still looped, so again I deleted my sound files and reinstalled manhunt but this time, I didn't delete my save data and I launched the game at 16-bit, and it worked. So I launched it in 32 bit to make sure and it works still. So my suggestion is to delete your sound files and reinstall your game but do not delete your save data.
EDIT: Try running in 16-bit first too
Glad that poop has finally got cleaned up.
16-bit? What do you mean by that? How did you even do it anyway?
Where would you put the dsound file
That makes no sense. Constantly reinstalling and switching between 16-bit and 32-bit? I tried that, if I think that's what you meant (that is, use a 16-bit resolution in the game launcher) and it didn't do nothing.
