Accessibility suggestion: auto-stir
The stirring motion is the only extremely repetitive motion that you have to perform while playing. Auto-stirring would help a much larger group of people enjoy this game (or enjoy it more.)
thanks

Same for mushing with mortar and pestle...

I think this is a great idea and the devs should definitly think about implementing that.

+1, I could not agree more. I have RSI; I try to limit as much as I possibly can mouse clicks & keypresses. I really want to revisit this game now that we are in 1.0, but my arms/hands/fingers are way worse than they were a year ago. This game is actually physically harder on my hands than a traditional WASD-type FPS game, which is pretty surprising and says a lot.

Even just changing one thing, the stirring, and somehow making it automatic or something would be immensely helpful. Even if it's just not having to holddown the mouse button while doing the stirring motion would make a dramatic difference.

I also suffer from joint pains - only thing I have found to sort of work is have a xbox controller in your lap just for stirring.

That's actually not a terrible idea. My past experiences with controllers after the RSI reared its ugly head haven't really fared much better than a keyboard and mouse though. The thumb sticks, the four main buttons, and having to use the same two fingers for the triggers as you normally would a mouse make for an equally uncomfortable experience. My thumbs normally give out first.

I can see a toggle of click and release then move working with this. Auto stir might be hard to implement because you don't always want to go to the end of the dotted line. And if you are trying for a tier 3 potion it requires a very slow stir.

Once thing that might help is if you use the bellows to heat your pot before you start stirring it goes a LOT faster per stir!! You just have to be careful you don't hit a whirlpool when you don't want to and you don't accidentally go too far.

Actually, there is an accessibility option just for that.

Not for the stiring movement itself, though. A way to auto-stir a path when no precision is needed would be a plus (with the ability to still do it manually when precision is actually needed). Same for auto-grinding to 100%, and doing it manually only when you want less.

The click and release option is very helpful. I wouldn't have played at all without it.
Simply pressing the button again to stop the stir is all that is needed.

Wiggling the joystick is not gameplay!!

you could even use xbox controller or a second mouse with your feet, so you won't die to trombosis, but a great idea yes, would love to see some automation

I have to agree, this badly needs some different control scheme/accessibility options. The stirring/crushing mouse movement is almost custom engineered to cause discomfort.

Small, precise, repetitive mouse movements are very not good :zote:

Guess for sure that you can create a mouse macro
free

or voice command

both mechanics require the mechanics in place due to effecting how specific you can be about where the potion ends up on the map: the mortar requires precise control because otherwise you have to complete the entire or initial path before adding another, and the stiring requires specific control because otherwise you cant line up the bottles or get to the right spot before adding more base.

Both of which can be done (and has in other games which require precision) without having to constantly hold and shake. It just as easily be done with keypress with a set speed using mousewheel to control how slow or fast actions take.

While the options themselves are something to consider - please don't dismiss others people's advice on this by just saying 'but it requires precision' basically. The game is simple to play, and with more accessibility options the game developers are only going to increase their target audience as gamers who have conditions specifically look for easy to play games .
I don't necessarily like setting up macros for everything either. I would rather game developers just create ease of access for the challenged.

Easiest way is just to go (full) speed and deescalate earlier before precision is needed
