Spending their clothing money on potions?

Anyone else find it odd that patrons will come in with patched, ratty-looking clothes and drop several hundreds on a potion? I'm like, my dude, I will forebear to use my Jedi-level bargaining powers on you if you use the extra cash to buy yourself a new jerkin, deal?

Yeah I honestly wonder why the "poor peasant" level customers are in the game. It would make way more sense to me if they were just proper peasants. Basically people who don't have a high income but are also not hobos with holes in their clothes! Logically that level of poor person would NOT be spending huge sums on frivolous potions! Just make them look less like beggars!!
