If you can just get all the ingredients for free there would be no reason to have any of the ingredient sellers.
It would trivialize the exploration and the refining process of making potions. You wouldn't have to worry about efficiency in how you brew your potions.
The only time i ever ran out of ingredients where those moments where i was simply exploring the map trying to find new effects for my customers.
The game already has a drop off currently with the fact that moment you learn a few of the most efficient routes to potions you make money hand over first and have nothing to do with it.
