Hey, thanks for the download man. Didn't run through steam for some reason, but i ran it in Win XP compat. mode and it worked. Anyways, I seem to be getting some audio clipping in the menus, any idea what may cause that? I've noticed you've added some new audio backends, could those cause such clipping? Anyways thanks again for the download :).
I haven't noticed the audio clipping in the menus on my end (though I have my audio set to EAX 3 thanks to EAX Fix and DSOAL with OpenAL already installed), but if it's DSOAL that is causing the clipping issues, try removing the following files from the GTA III install folder:
• dsound.dll
• dsoal-aldrv.dll
• alsoft.ini
• <path-to-GTAIII>\scripts\MssEax.asi
• <path-to-GTAIII>\scripts\MssEax.ini
I also forgot to mention that you needed OpenAL installed as well. See here for details on how to get it running on your PC:
EDIT:
Bare in mind that I'm using the mods on a retail version of GTA III I got from the old PC release and retail Grand Theft Auto - The Trilogy collection versions (yes I have to physical copies of GTA III), not the Steam version. Not sure what is causing the issue with the game ran from Steam, but maybe there could be a bypass I can find?
EDIT 2:
Seems like the only way I found around the game not playing through Steam is using SweetFX (just don't use any effects if you don't want use them) or Windows XP compatibility mode.
I been following your updates on this mod and I find awesome what you are doing however my game crashes on load everytime I try to start a new game the bar fills up like 3% and then I get the following error message:
Unhandled Exception: c0000005
At adress: 0050c698
I downloaded your ''Essential Fixes'' and it worked nicely but the full version is giving me this error everytime.
Do you have the HD Tri-Pack vehicles enabled in the mod loader settings and/or using the v1.01 build I put today? That pack seems to cause the issues the most from my experience and getting rid of it was the only way I could stop (or at least reduce) the constant crashes. Either disable it mod loader or delete the "HD Tri-Pack Vehicles" folder from "<path-to-GTAIII>\modloader\<Unofficial Xbox HD>\OPTIONAL\".
Yes, I am using your v1.01 build which I installed in a fresh installation of the game with absolutely no modification in the files, I just downloaded and copied everything inside the ''GTA III - Xbox Version HD Unofficial Fixed Edition v1.01'' folder to the main game folder like the ReadMe says in the ''Installation'' section.

• After (retail version): https://i.imgur.com/mEcAhL9.png
• Unofficial Fixed Edition files: https://i.imgur.com/CSh1BdU.png
• Mod Loader file structure: https://i.imgur.com/iEwbtUD.png
• "DEFAULT" folder: https://i.imgur.com/5mzMeEN.png
• "OPTIONAL" folder: https://i.imgur.com/5mzMeEN.png
I have just done a full reinstall of the game from my retail copy and used the same build of the mod pack and I have not ran into the constant crashes myself. Here are couple of other possible ideas to narrow down the issues:
• Run the game directly from the executable without using Steam
• Apply Windows XP (SP3) compatibility to "gta3.exe" as Majorklesk mentioned
• Delete the files mentioned here:
• Remove Project 2DFX (IIILodLights.asi, IIILodLights.ini, IIILodLights.dat in the "scripts" folder) but do NOT remove the Limit Adjuster files, Xbox Version HD is dependent on the Limit Adjuster
• Move the "Xbox Version HD - Unofficial Fixed Edition" folder outside of the "modloader" folder, test run the game, and put it back to see if it crashes after installing the mod pack
I did download it last night - lol. But I can re-downloaded the updated one. Is it the same link?
Ok, so I tried out the Essential Fixes. I got it running, but every time I press ALT for jump (what my jump is binded to) it causes a weird delay. I'm guessing the mod uses ALT for something, because it's acting very strange. The other issue I noticed , which may just be particular to this mod, is the the HUD isn't smaller for the weapons, it's the same size as the vanilla game.
One major issue I'm having is that my gamepad no longer works. I'm not using an Xbox controller - that's probably why...
I'll probably just try the whole Xbox HD conversion at this point since trees and other textures are looking rather silly with the car reflections.
EDIT: As for the HUD, sorry for not mentioning this, but the HUD size is pre-configured on Widescreen Fix to to 1.0 on width and height. You can try to adjust the values in "GTA3.WidescreenFix.ini".
Alright tested everything and the thing that allowed me to start a new game was moving the "Xbox Version HD - Unofficial Fixed Edition" folder outside of the "modloader" folder. Played through Give me Liberty and Luigi's Girls and took a little tour through Portland and everything was fine, in the second try though, the first try the game froze when I was getting to the hospital to grab Misty, no error messages or anything the game simply stopped but the sounds and the radio kept going. Putting back the folder gives the same error message.
TL;DR Changelog:
• Changed some of the file structure of Xbox Version HD
• Made some config tweaks to SkyGfx and Widescreen Fix
• Moved some of the audio- and video-related files out to a separate folder
• Diabled Skin & Bones by default in modloader.ini
• Added a few SkyGfx presets
• Added the "No Intro Skip" mod as an option fix (forgot to mention in the actual readme file)
Alright, might just be problem with my computer then but thanks for the help anyway! You're doing a great thing for us GTA3 fans.
Deleting wndmode.ini does fix the alt problem, but then the intro for the game goes black when you start. I just ended up re-assigning my jump key. Good thing I use a Razor keyboard device, so that's not a problem. I was able to get my gamepad working by deleting GIinputIII files. hopefully that was the right way to go about doing that.
I didn't mess around with GTA3.WidescreenFix.ini as I'm not too bothered by it. I sort of like it because it's easier to read, but sort of don't like it, because it blocks more of the screen.
I tried the carPipe=2 and I agree, I think it looks better, at least if I just stick with the Essentials Fix. If other textures were improved, I could see maybe going back to 1.
It looks and plays really well. Looks like I have what I asked for. :) But now I'm really tempted to try the full HD upgrade. ;D

As far as I know my drivers are up to date and yes, I'm using a integrated graphics card but I figured this couldn't be a problem since I have a game -- Resident Evil 4 (the original PC release not UHD) which came some years after GTA3 and with two big mods to enhance graphics and the game runs perfect. But who knows maybe GTA3 Xbox Mod makes the game heavier than RE4. It could also be that the Mod just doesn't support this graphics card.
