" It means people don't enjoy the way it's being developed to say the least "
Not everyone makes games for other people. Some people make the game they themselves want to make. So this is irrelevant to the game's development, since we don't know if the dev gives a ♥♥♥♥.
" aren't playing it because they simply aren't having fun."
The money paid when purchased doesn't diminish if the player stops playing. This isn't a live-service, so that's irrelevant to the game's development. It's also a red flag that you're blindly stating the reason people are stopping playing, something that's just a guess on your part. We don't know why players stopped playing.
" It's been in early access for years now and though it says still in early access, acts much like a game that has been released."
Plenty of games still in active development have been in early access or beta for years, so this is irrelevant to the game's development. Also, lots of games that are released continue active development, so the way this game 'acts' is irrelevant to it's development.
This is a waste of my time isn't it?
but maybe I am mistaken. if they have posted a road map since, please share
I played this, but it wasn't quite baked enough for me to sink my teeth in, but it did have all the right ingredients for it to become a staple for me
"It's been in early access for years now and though it says still in early access, acts much like a game that has been released"
BG3 was in early access for 5 years, and has since become game of the decade
your argument is invalid
RIP Almighty Gods
I really wish Steam would implement some sort of rules for Early Access games so we don't end up with so many games being sold and never finished. If nothing else, a game should be automatically removed from the Early Access program after a significant amount of time without any updates, and preferably labelled as potentially abandoned.
Customers can come across this game, see it listed as 'early access' and purchase with the incorrect idea that it is still in development. It's misleading. Nevermind the dozens or hundreds of games sitting in Early Access that will never be touched again, or completed.
But that's Steam for you. They'd rather experiment with systems than put a polish on their store front.
Hardly. BG3 is BG3. This is not. It's finished. All you have to do is go to any forums, their discord etc etc and see. It's a ghost town and finished.
Is it finished or abandoned? I would think if it were finished, the dev would have taken it out of Early Access.
