Frozen Deserts and Ice Sheets

I used to have a nearly unlivable frozen desert biome, because the temperature would remain, also ice would stay frozen allowing for an ice sheet. With the variable temperature changes, can these be brought back as permanent biome types?

You don't need to do much, as it's all already in the game, just to make them a permanent biome type for map design, or allow a type of fixed temperature type to remain indefinitely. Unless you want to throw in a few very sparse plants or animals.

we already have permafrost but it is not really a desert as it has plenty of trees, so I think the idea is good. Ice sheet would be neat, perhaps only the ice ones would be able to live there. I used to simulate ice sheet with mountains and snow, now however it melts.
