How to have fun with this game?
I feel like this game is sort of a game to watch instead of play. I can dig it, I can. I'm curious, though, what sort of things can I expect out of it? I have a few hours on it already so I'm familiar with the basics. Thanks in advance.

i honestly have no idea. I don't even know why I like this game so much. There's just something so satisfying about watching stuff happen on a 2D map. This game is like a wallpaper for me tbh, I usually just start a world and leave it to act as my background. It's a lovely little thing to pick at while I'm working, but I still wouldn't say it's fun necessarily. You pretty much got the jist of it.

For me, the biggest thing that I like to do in this game is roleplay and create your own stories. It's a sandbox game you can do whatever you want.

also try civilisations make sure diplomacy is on and try to watch them if that gets boring try adding a gimmick for example a killer chicken who is level one trillion or blow up a random island every 5 years if then there are mods after and if you still are bored try the other peoples answers

For me, it's just the aspect of being able to "write a world" or its Genesis story, and watch it write itself almost. Not that I'm comparing myself to God, but you can see nations and diplomacy evolve and it's so interesting to me. I like writing stories, and it helps to see how nations would react in real scenarios. You can curse nations and bless nations and that's the aspect that I like about it.
Game was cool when a lot of the good mods worked, now its pretty stale just waiting on some good mods to make the game less boring. Wish that they had better mod support for steam as the game would easily be big just doesn't really have a lot going for it content wise.

I personally like rooting for one country and helping it whenever it goes to war by nuking the enemy out of existence >:). I also like watching the world develop and looking at it through the perspective of world current events, like "Oh, that country just declared war!" or "Theres a huge civil war going on in that country!". TBH the wars are mostly the interesting parts, but you could also sprinkle a little natural disaster and such to make it more fun.

So one thing I like it to put 4 races on 4 different corners of the continent. and I will then give each of those races a Micro god (really high health and strong) then we see who comes out on top. Normally the gods all get murdered by 100 years, but I give the micro gods nuke deaths so seeing one die is always a huge spectacle.
