I recommend quickly clicking on the plot symbol (an envelope) whenever it turns red.
You'll then have to open each plot individually
(the back button on the left is your best friend).
The longer you do this, the less frequently you'll find new ones.
That's why I recommend unlocking all religious traits first, because they directly influence which plots are executed.
You can then add and remove religious traits as needed until you've completed all plots (by clicking on the plot icon in the menu).
There are some plots where it's advisable to create a whole new world to create the conditions you need to get the desired plot.
(for example, a world where you destroy all but two countries in an alliance so that only the two remain as enemies and dissolve their alliance.)
