Life is a Sim Achievement

For the life is a Sim achievement, do you need to have played 24 hours total, or 24 hours non-stop?

basically, play a bit than do what ever it is you need to do.. go to bed, go to work.. just don't turn the game off for a literal, real 24 hour day.
