Any games similar to this? I like the ant colony aspect of things, I like to watch how people build empires under their own motivations but still like being able to control events and disasters. Rimworld comes close but there's still quite of micro managing

Species ALRE (artificial life real evolution) comes somewhat close, you can change the climate of the planet, the sea level, height etc. the creatures do their own thing evolving or you can speed it up with radiation. It's more about the evolution of wildlife than civilizations though. This game can be as micro-managy as you like.

Ruinarch; You play as a demon lord and have to destroy human / elven civilization. You can do that by various abilities, spells or units. 3 distinct playstyles; the lich, the brute and the puppetmaster. It is a godgame, sort of. This game can be quite micro-managy

Crusader kings; if you like kingdom building and grand strategy. Though you play with a dynasty and every time your character dies, your heir takes over, unless you don't have one then it's gameover. Lots of political intrigue. This game can also be quite micro-managy and has quite the learning curve.

Star dynasties: crusader kings but in space

Shadows of forbidden gods; Kind of similar to ruinarch and crusader kings, you choose a god that has a particular playstyle and then you corrupt or destroy the world. Not really a godgame but it has simulated civilizations that do their own thing and play against you.

I know these games aren't really similar to worldbox, but this is as close as I could get with what I've played.
