Culture research happens too fast. Any way to slow it down?

Its way to fast. After an hour of gameplay the cultures all are at max development. It happens so fast you dont even get to watch any advancements mean anything on a tactical level on the world stage. Oh they have sticks against super power sticks. Moments later they are whipping out power swords. This needs some kind of slider control. Make things take longer. Maybe I want to see cave men fight it out with sticks for a while.

Also empires get killed off too fast. Its all one mega empire after almost no time at all.
