I do not see a problem, I mean it is weird civilisations can not build a bridge over a thin river but can colonise far away island, it is just a bit ridiculous. And just make the limit of how far they can build it.

not what i mean, with how the map is scaled a small river that is in reality a small sea in the map can bridged, which looks unrealistic

like the British channel or Gibralta for example on an earth map

You say that the scaling would look weird, but houses are already the size of a tiny bridge. Bridges make sense, only over shallow water, and just make the limit like 3 or 4 tiles. You don't need to fight everyone to the death over a suggested feature that is actually well thought out.

"well thought out", the houses were a compromise due to the amount of units, you can just imagine them bigger on the inside

I dunno, the kingdoms seem to have no problem using boats to get around and conquer and/or populate other continents or islands from what I've seen so far. I've yet to see a situation that warranted a bridge of any kind, but even if that was the case, I'd just whip out my god finger and paint a bridge using soil. Whatever.
