Cant play without the ages?

Deactivating doesnt end them, so I can never run the sandbox normal? Because at the moment the nations dont do anything, they are at peace all the time it seems. I also dont know if Age of Hope just doesnt allow them to have war. but I dont want to activate the magical ages and force them.

they can war in age of hope i just now had them start a war but i think it just makes them happier so they are less likely to have wars

If age of hope makes wars rarer, as it definitely seems to do right now, this completely breaks the game. If we want anything interesting to happen, we have to apply an ugly filter over the map. Wonderful.

They still fight in age of hope...they still constantly fight, it just means in age of despair or chaos there are MORE wars/revolts than normal

You can go to ages and turn off all but 1 and thus prevent the game age from ever changing
