The thing is that this idea has been circling around since the game became 2.5D (I think that describes it properly, might be wrong), back in 2018 if I am not mistaken. I am a veteran of this game and I know that, as many people pointed out, the devs said that the modern update will never ever be in the game, and it also became a famous, or better infamous, meme in the community,* due to how often it was suggested and also because people suggesting it would write something along the lines of:
WE NEED A MODERN UPDATE WITH GUNS AND BUILDINGS

Also, to make this comment the comment to end all of this pointless discussion I will include a couple of things
The Modern Update is a common concept idea that has been around for a very long time. Even though Maxim, (The game developer) stated there will never be a Modern Update, annoying people on Reddit still ask for it constantly.

Worldbox has been receiving back to back updates from the developer, and many people have been asking for a Modern Era Update where they add Modern Stuff such as Skyscrapers, Cars, Guns and Other Modern Stuff, but the developers of Worldbox don’t seem to be caring about that as of now.
They have stated in a Reddit post, “we don’t have any plans on working on modern progression.” but they have tons of other plans. I just cannot wait to see where they will take this game from here; it just has tons and tons of potential, and it keeps getting great updates; they recently added Robots in Worldbox as well I still have not played the new update I feel like I really need to because they just added a lot of great stuff recently.
The Developers also stated, “We are currently focusing on the medieval fantasy theme. And since we still have over 9000 features to implement in the next many years.”I really like their vision of a Medieval Fantasy Theme, and I cannot wait to see where they take this theme to in the next big update; the next 2 years will be fun for any fan of Worldbox.

I know there is a lot of controversy about this topic but I have an idea. Hear me out, when we start the game we have two options one is the regular mode (medieval) and option two (modern) and whatever you click on it takes you to that version of the game with their own world saves you create. This way the people who want a modern update can play with a modern update and the people who want to keep it medieval can keep it that way. I don’t know if someone has come up with this idea or not but I debated on posting this for a while and decided to give it a go. Let me know your thoughts in the comments please thanks for reading.Comments:
u/Kotarou21 (not a dev but still a good opinion)That's basically saying make another game. This is a medieval god simulator and that's what the devs already said, and want it to be. The development time and effort used to make a modern branch would have been better served improving the overall game, instead of making a 2nd mode that not all players will even play.(source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Worldbox/comments/qxsv03/modern_update_read_please/)
* This video is an example
This might be satire but I think you get the point
Basically confirming every single point that me and many others have
Good luck with saying modern update will be possible after reading this
