Why Modern update won't work.

Here is a list of reasons you should stop asking for it from the devs and just get it as a mod when workshop comes out.

- Medieval fantasy: Dragons, fairies, elves, wizards, orcs, etc. WHAT PART OF THIS SCREAMS TANKS AND MINIGUNS TO YOU?!?!?! Worldbox is meant to be in a medieval fantasy setting. Some of you talk about "progress" but imagine if in games like Total War, ck3, Dawn of Man, Etc. you could unlock guns? It would simply not work and it is not how the game was designed to be.

- Little support: Yes I know it seems like there are a bunch of people who want this terrible idea to happen, but if you go look at old reddit posts THERE ARE SO MANY MEMES AND DENUNCIATIONS OF THE MODERN UPDATE. I don't know where those players went.

- Maps not big enough: If you want planes and cars, you don't realize how boring they will be, they will move to quickly and take like two seconds to get to where they want to be. So if you are interested in cars and planes flying long distances, FORGET ABOUT IT.

- You will be nerfed: We all know how nerfed got powers became, now imagine the things you are trying to destroy are about a 100X stronger. If buildings are not 100x stronger then it will be boring and inaccurate, if they are 100x stronger it will just be boring.

I can go on and on about this but I want to get in as much time playing worldbox as I can in case this "modern update" comes along and ruins it.

The thing is that this idea has been circling around since the game became 2.5D (I think that describes it properly, might be wrong), back in 2018 if I am not mistaken. I am a veteran of this game and I know that, as many people pointed out, the devs said that the modern update will never ever be in the game, and it also became a famous, or better infamous, meme in the community,* due to how often it was suggested and also because people suggesting it would write something along the lines of:

Worldbox has been receiving back to back updates from the developer, and many people have been asking for a Modern Era Update where they add Modern Stuff such as Skyscrapers, Cars, Guns and Other Modern Stuff, but the developers of Worldbox don’t seem to be caring about that as of now.

They have stated in a Reddit post, “we don’t have any plans on working on modern progression.” but they have tons of other plans. I just cannot wait to see where they will take this game from here; it just has tons and tons of potential, and it keeps getting great updates; they recently added Robots in Worldbox as well I still have not played the new update I feel like I really need to because they just added a lot of great stuff recently.

The Developers also stated, “We are currently focusing on the medieval fantasy theme. And since we still have over 9000 features to implement in the next many years.”I really like their vision of a Medieval Fantasy Theme, and I cannot wait to see where they take this theme to in the next big update; the next 2 years will be fun for any fan of Worldbox.

I know there is a lot of controversy about this topic but I have an idea. Hear me out, when we start the game we have two options one is the regular mode (medieval) and option two (modern) and whatever you click on it takes you to that version of the game with their own world saves you create. This way the people who want a modern update can play with a modern update and the people who want to keep it medieval can keep it that way. I don’t know if someone has come up with this idea or not but I debated on posting this for a while and decided to give it a go. I know there is a lot of controversy about this topic but I have an idea. Well he's right. I saw on their suggestion site that the devs declined the modern idea. However this guy seems not to understand a simple concept called "change of mind"

If the devs decided to add a modern update at some point in the future I am sure they would do it in a tasteful way that is consistent with the visual design.

Personally, i just feel as if there is not enough change in a culture once it develops- things get a bit stagnant in the simulation. I would be happy to see more tech progression or some sort of change over time that prevents this lockup. In other words, the theme of the new tech isn't as important to me as there being some sort of additional progression or societal development to keep things fresh. Magical or steampunk type techs could be examples of what i am talking about.
