[Bug] [No Spoilers Please] "Rudeger isn't here" when he is?

I won't spoil anything, but Brother Mathieu told me that Rudeger hadn't been seen in the morning (it was the lunchtime meal), when Rudeger was literally right beside him (Andreas responded 'no' so I don't think it's intentional). I also found Rudeger in the church after lunch.

I think this is a bug? Either Mathieu wasn't meant to have that dialogue, or that Rudeger isn't meant to be present. I can even interact with Rudeger (though he just gives the basic "god bless you").

Anyone else experience this? Also please no spoilers, this is my first playthrough and I'm not very far in.

I haven't, but I have encountered similar bugs. It looks like some dialogue lines are said even when the conditions are not met, or they forgot to put conditions.

I came here to make this post as well. I started another playthrough after getting to Act 2 and have experienced this again (happened in my first playthrough as well). Almost a spoiler bug!

Actually I've just encountered this bug in another run.


I surprised him and Mathieu in the library, and when talking with Mathieu at lunch time in the refectory, he was standing next to Rüdeger and had a conversation about him having disappeared, how it was partly my fault and so on.

Do you remember what options you took in the library? I'd like to see if our route was the same.

I ran. The previous time I stayed hidden and didn't have this issue.
Maybe the conversation is fine but he's simply not supposed to be there.

Here to report this too. I stayed hidden and fell asleep in the library. The next day Mathieu was in the church and accused me of frightening Rudeger. :/

also found this; the first time i've re-entered the abbey church since the murder, not counting the autopsy, so i haven't seen the event at all (and rudeger is still in the room), yet i'm getting this conversation

I got this as well! I stayed hidden during the scene in question, so they never saw me, but Mathieu gave me the script about having scared him off/making him go missing while he was sat right next to him at lunch.

I encountered that dialogue as well. Just came out of the book exchange with Illuminata, got my salary in advance already and encountered him in the Refectory dining with the other monks while I was on my way to meet Enric and Otto. Rüdeger was right next to him, I did not encounter anyone in the Library as I did not yet set foot into it and just opened the secret passage minutes before. Do not know what triggered it, but it happened on my first playthrough, too.

I encountered this as well, in my first and second playthrough, each time by talking to Mathieu a second time after he gave me the money for the Gertners. So well before I even could do anything that might make Rudeger disappear.

I tried to contact the support but they're non-committal as usual. For me it remains a good game but rushed out, with a very bad follow-up from the support. 🙁

Really a shame because we need more game like this.

They did, I can't reproach them to be slow or to ignore emails. But the reply is non-committal as I said. It's the same answer I had when reporting that the game wouldn't launch (and for which they haven't bothered to push any hotfix, even after I sent them the exact cause of the problem).

I think there's a very small interface team that creates the tickets, but they never give any feedback in forums like here, and I'm not sure what happens with those tickets. For such a big company, the focus is obviously on their new titles and not on this one. An indie would already have fixed most of the issues.

I don't know if an indie would, but I see what you mean. You would think that with so many people reporting this issue, it would be gone by now. Very disappointing since I really love the game.
