Pillars of the Earth is the closest to that and only 2 dollars!

I recommend Gamedec. You decide where the story goes and whom you believe, how it ends.
Pentiment is a masterpiece, Pillars of Eternity is way more modern than historical but a truly captivating experience. Gamedec is like these two but with a completely different setting, finding the sense of life in a virtual cyberpunk reality. Even questioning the concept of time.

I believe there are no games quite like Pentiment unless they were also created by Josh, the director of Pentiment. You might consider trying Pillars of Eternity as an alternative.

Once "Hellish Quart" will have story mode I would strongly recommend it. It is historical accurate fighting game and developer is working on story mode. Right now Hellish Quart has only one short chapter but it shows how good it will be after story mode release. Sadly develompent process is slow becasue it was 1 man studio, now I think there are 2 people.

late to this thread but i suggest Elsinore. it is so good and it scratched the pentiment itch for me.
