Any significance to the end game family tree?
MINOR SPOILERS

one of the very last shots in the game is "family tree" sort of thing right next to the mural. What confused me about it is that it shows pictures of some of the characters next to their names, seemingly at random. Most worryingly, one of the pictures is Vacslav being burned at the stake! Is there any significance to any of these pictures? Do they change at all based on your playthrough?

Yes. Mine had Ursula *and* Vacslav burning together... :vintywhy:

it's the typical obsidian ending, showing the lasting impact of the decisions you made through the game with everyone

On my first playthrough, I exposed Prior Ferenic as an occultist but had Lucky found guilty. I later found on in Act 3 that Ferenic became an Inquisitor, which i found galling, but on the ending family tree when I saw Ferenic persecuting Vacslav for his open mind towards Gnostic beliefs etc, I thought no way can I let that hypocrite go on to cause so much damage. For the greater good I started 2nd playthrough and made damn sure that only ferenic seemed likely suspect, so he died. I also chose Imperal Law background so I could make sure Old Ottila got to keep her house. I'm thinking for a 3rd playthrough as an agent of chaos, I have her found guilty if I can, or no one. Let my buddy and mentor take the fall

Yes and the end of Act 2, which I thought was the end of game at first lol !

They change based on your decisions. For example, I encouraged Endris to find his love and in the family at the end he had like 5 kids. If you don't encourage him, he'll stay lonely forever. Ursula and Vacslav both got burned at the stake in my ending because I told her all those "evil" stories lmao. Otto's son married my Magdalena in the end.

Interesting, in my playthrough I found a lot of evidence about Fenric but did not expose/accuse him and ended up on ok terms. So in the end Vaclsav is shown kneeling in a religious pose in front of Fenric, but he's not burning - maybe Fenric learned to give people the benefit of the doubt/second chances, which is a pretty neat little conclusion for his arc.
