In the end i concluded it was either
1) Mystery person who went around delivering those letters.
2) Gargoyle fell onto his head and noone actually murdered him.
Yeah i did notice a gargoyle head was missing from the courtyard which just happens to be right across the hall to the chapter house.
Unfortunatly there was no way to explore either options for me so i can't tell for sure.
1. There's a bloodstain on the wall of the Chapter House which is only explainable by Lucky being the murderer and hitting the baron on the wall there
2. The baron's note references Lucky's tragedy
3. The prior's bloody rod is explainable by the blood magic he's been performing
4. Matilda doesn't have a corresponding murder weapon
5. The widow is could be the culprit but is less likely than Lucky due to reasons 1 and 2, and unlikely Lucky - isn't known to access the abbey
But the ultimate culprit is the note man who is clearly committed to the cause of stochastic terrorism
