You can find an easter egg of the novel "The Name of the Rose" ingame! (minor spoiler)
:D Is in the library. The game's plot seemed very similar to that novel (murder in an abbey) and they actually had an easter egg! (The map of the abbey in that novel can be seen in one of the books)

The page you erase at the beginning of the game is the first page of the name of the rose in latin

EDIT: I was wrong, you are right. The page you erase at the beginning of the game is the first paragraph of The Name of the Rose.

The little part that is scratched out in the game, before you even begin erasing yourself, is the part in parenthesis in The Name of the Rose: "(alas, how illegible)". Nice!

I interpreted the erasing as a physical reminder to “forget what you know”… about this type of story from reading The Name of the Rose

There's also a reference to Cadfael books in the same area. Kind of a weird niche genre isn't it, cloistered murder mysteries.

I was also delightfully surprised, didnt think it was known to younger generations.

This game has made me want to reread my Umberto Eco.

I bought that book just because I heard how much this game had referred to it, and I was a fool to think that I can find the murderer in the game from the book. However, the book is marvelous! And I really get in love with William of Baskerville :)
