How do people finish a game so quickly?
I've played this game for about 7 hours. I've just reached stage 3. It feels like there is plenty of game left to go.

They don't explore at all, I assume. Weird for people playing a Metroidvania I know, but what can you do.
I finished in 9.8 hours at 100%, though I looked up the last few rooms (one of them is pretty troll)

I wouldn't say it comes down to people not exploring. I took about 7 hours to 100% the map on a fresh save, and I even took my time trying to break a few areas. I also played the first two chapters when the game first entered Early Access. Even though it had been 6+ months since I played last, those stages obviously went a lot quicker for me. Additionally, I didn't need to spend time familiarizing myself with the game's mechanics since I'd already practiced them quite thoroughly (and, in some cases, I'd helped discover some unintended mechanics).

I also really enjoy speedrunning, so I know I tend to implement some of those strategies even when I'm doing a blind playthrough.

All in all, it just comes down to how you enjoy playing and, in this game's case, the fact that some players had already thoroughly explored the first few chapters.

I had 97% map completion, level 51 and 5 hours. The power creep is so rapid. It's so easy to just do crazy damage to everything very fast. There's such an odd balance to the monsters hp and how much damage you're doing to them. I almost one shot everything as I was going through unless it was something bigger like a troll or needed to be hit with a bow. They make it too easy to keep your wind and fire at level 3. It's very obvious to tell whos weak to what and just smack it with level 3 wind attacks or fire ones.

I will also add that it is A LOT easier to pick this game up quickly if you've played the Shin Megami Tensei metroidvania that Team Ladybug made a few years ago. It is built on the same engine, uses the same controls/gameplay, has the same "blue/orange" switching mechanic, has similar enemy patterns, and even has some remarkably similar room layouts. Since I'd played the heck out of that one, this one felt instantly familiar the moment I picked it up.

NOTE: I can't really speak to how similar this game is to Team Ladybugs other game, Tohou: Luna Nights, as I've never played it. That could be another way people are coming into this game pre-experienced, though.

Honestly I've almost 100% the game, the only thing I literally have left to do is buy all the bows in the shop and I'll be done. The game's difficulty stems from two things... if you've played a metroidvania, you know what to expect... and if you've got any familiarity with action games that involve switching states. I have familiarity in both but I'm a person who likes to 100% games, so the game time will be longer for me than most.

I did pretty much everything and finished in 5 hours. Game doesn't have much in the way of exploration and secrets.

I've played tons of them. Yet I didn't go warp speed through the game. Hmmm....

I got to 100% map completion in about 5.5 hours. Then spent another hour farming missing item drops. There's nothing else to do in the game, so I'm done for now. Might do a quick run when they add achievements though.

I wouldn't call myself a pro gamer or something, the game is just pretty short and sparse on content, about the same deal as the developer's previous game, Touhou Luna Nights.

I just kept playing untill i covered all areas and then went to the last boss, and before i know it, the game was over.
Just a little over 5 hours of gameplay, not that i mind though, this is a game i could complete at least a few more times.

I suppose the mystery is, I've also been playing the game, and I'm not exactly a slouch, yet I'm at stage 3 having played longer than you did when you finished the game.

There really wasn't much to explore. I missed few secret rooms as I finished with 98% map and finished the game in about 5-6 hours.

You pretty much answered you own question in your other thread. Since you deliberately keep making the game more challenging to yourself by not using magic or items etc.

^^ heh heh that's a pretty good point, I never considered that!!

That people reached 100% blindly with 5hrs is total bs. 100% they used guides.
