A question on the ending [spoilers warning]
I can somewhat live with the main ending, but what's with the post credits scene?

Teaser for a sequel in the future?

Or is this one of those games where not doing something / getting a certain item, gets me an alternate ending? (eg like in Symphony of the Night)

I've been wondering the same thing. If it's something like SOTN, I suspect the Heritage sword might be involved. The area you get it is a mirror of Deedlit's actual house and it behaves strangely in that location and in the real world post final-boss. (It's the only weapon you keep other than the Rapier, as far as I can tell.)

Beating the final boss with it didn't seem to change the ending, but I wonder if there's something else to be done with it.

I was also surprised that there was this post credit scene.

I wonder if you also get this scene when you don't pick up the Heritage Sword.

The guy at the end is Prince Lyle from the most recent Record of Lodoss war book "The Pledged Diadem" (Seiyaku no Hōkan). The book came out in 2019 and was the first entry into the series in 12 years. Diadem takes place 100 years after the end of the previous book, long after the deaths of Parn and Spark. Basically him collapsing in the ending there is the start of the book (well, very close to it)

Ah, that's a nice tie in with the current plot then. I only read the mangas more than 15 years ago so I also got the idea that it was a sequel/secret teaser. A bit sad it isn't.

So was this game just an ad for the newish anime? Shame if so, another game with even more depth with sotn weapon amounts and such would be pretty sick. Shame how short it is.

Nah, I believe it was initially created for the 30th Anniversary of Lodoss War which was last year. The extra scene at the end was just a neat little way to tie it into the book which came out the year before. I would seriously love to see another game as well, as there's certainly a lot they can take from here and expand upon in the future :Medianne:

It's not exactly an alternate ending, but finishing the game after obtaining Parn's Sword (random drop from Memory, the first phase of the final boss fight) will net you a different scene while the credits are rolling (as opposed to the quill and parchment normally present).

Does the post-credits scene change if you don't take out the Heritage Sword from the cupboard during the nightmare scene? I noticed the cupboard was still broken and the sword was already in my inventory.

I don't know much about the original story but I wonder how Parn die. Could you guy spoil me a little bit, please?

No, the credit scene remains the same if you didn't take the Heritage Sword from the cupboard

What's strange is the scene described as being altered in Drakan's post never happened to me. I had Parn's sword but it was still the quill and parchment ending scene, but I did see the end after the credits and I kinda hope the team will consider making more record of lodoss war games!

Yeah it was thought that having Parn's sword gave that ending, however, that seems like it isn't so. No clue what gives the ending with Deed in a tree.

I'm trying to think of what I did differently between getting the two credit scenes. Both were achieved with 100% map completion, on the same save file, and on the same game version. As far as I can remember, the only difference was that Tree-dlit showed up after getting the Parn's Sword drop.
Vonteal 30 MAR 2021 a las 8:18
Tree-dlit! haha. It could be just beating the game a second time on the same save.
Fyren 30 MAR 2021 a las 15:14
My first completion, I got 100% and didn't get Parn's sword, but I did get the tree scene. (Side question: is there a hint in game Parn's sword existed?)
