Bosses can offer some challenge if you are bad with patterns. But overall I'd say this game was bit too easy. Mostly because you can easily recharge your magic during boss fights and health as well. With few tweaks this game would be perfect.
I don't like too hard games myself. But in my opinion Castlevania games and RoTN have better difficulty curve.
You really say DS Castlevanias are less Castlevania games than Hollow Knight? Anyway, Metroidvania term is used too much these days and lost it's meaning. Some game reviewer even called "Control" a metroidvania game. Jeez.
But never mind about that. That is just MY opinion. You can call DOOM metroidvania if you want.
I will put the game aside for now, hope the devs release a patch for this.
I like challenging games, in my opinion Valdis Story has the perfect balance
Thanks for your answers and your time
But no, nothing like that in Lodoss at the moment, maybe they'll add boss rush later, like in Luna.
You can limit yourself, like don't use cheesy magic and use only starting weapons. Leveling up don't make much of a difference.
You are right. None of them is extremely difficult, but they are on an adequate difficulty and offer an adequate challenge, according to what the player is looking for
Blasphemous can be tricky in some parts, especially after the dlc
Hollow Knight has bigger and very interesting challenges, like Nightmare King Grimm, Grey Prince Zote, the gods dlc...
UnEpic if you don't pay attention to the mechanics and really get to know the game world, what you can and what you can't do, you will gonna have a baaaad time. This game deserves more love, it's really cool, after you get used to the gameplay, and on several occasions it makes the player think outside the box
Valdis Story has some really cool hidden bosses and the challenge offered throughout the game always keeps it interesting, regardless of your build, you never gets overpower, never oneshoot the enemies and remain challenged throughout the whole game
I have Luna, but I didn't like it very much, for some reason the game failed to capture my interest
If you get a good grasp of the combat and magic system in the game, it does seem a lot easier. Otherwise, it can be a bit tougher, since health is scarce to come by compared to a lot of metroidvanias. So this game rewards you for figuring out its game mechanics well.
If you master the spirit swap setup, you can end up with rapid auto-regen. It does require being good at avoiding attacks, while doing damage, in order to boost the spirit meters. It's a really cool system, but feels kinda OP when maxed out.
Having a hard mode (either at start or unlocked after game complete) would make a huge difference. Smaller spirit boosts, more enemy damage, more enemy health, and so on.
Oh, but It's definitely still a fun game, so there's that. Kind of feel the same about some of the easier castlevanias.
