I had a great deal of trouble finding an easy way to get to an objective so I took along a pick and dug myself a route. This is not the only game (or genre) where I've dug or bridged or spelled my way to somewhere. It doesn't have to be a permanent route - sometimes once you are there you can pick an easier way to backtrack.
EDIT and opinion: This game isn't like Valheim. It's more an action rpg with base building elements. Comparison - thief of joy and all that. It is what it is. If you let it be its own thing it's way more enjoyable.
This dev team is one of them.
Then level your flame altar at your base, and you'll be able to go through this area.
You're in a voxel world, improvise. There's a thousand ways to get to your objective.
I saw a video of a guy doing it at level 5. He has skills I can only envy. Most people excel at these types of game but my skills are well below par so I always try to get to a higher level. I also managed to keep trying to jump and end up gliding and diving into lava. Most frustrating. So playing slowly but taking a break for now before I get dizzy from beating my head on the wall.
The one thing good on the map is, it shows you which Enshrouded Miasma areas are "red" and "deadly Miasma", then you have to upgrade the strength of your flame altar, which is the second choice.
Upgrading the first choice only makes the build area bigger... and that is only useful if you need more space, but since it is lost once you "turn off" that altar it is not that useful.
The best tip is to try and follow roads mainly. Running on roads has a reduced stamina cost to run on them, which can be further reduced with a talent. It also guarantees that you not end up at a "mountain wall" with no real way forward save following the wall left or right which then can lead to dead ends.
I am trying to do all the quest markers on my map because there are a lot of them. I would have assumed any map marker given to you in early game would be accessible.
