Is archer any good? I've played around with melee and magic, haven't messed with bows though.

I'm running a battlemage. Blend of heavy and light armor, shield, and wand. I'll swap to a sword for when there's a swarm of enemies I need to fight. IE rats.

Been curious about beastmaster though. Is anyone running Beastmaster? How is the companion? How did you get it?

Yess they do high damage but you will need to craft A LOT of arrows.
My clanmate just fired 1500 arrows in just one big adventure trip.

Im playing a mainly bow guy as well, with a wand as backup. I like sniping headshots

Currently 23 int, 15 willpower, but i dont have the best armor yet.
Damage between 800 and 2000 per shot. Mana is recharging super fast and i passively heal for ~60hp per second.

Mage, because it's brokenly overpowered... Actually I should probably swap to melee since magic is STUPIDLY overpowered in this and removes any challenge whatsoever.

Here is me taking a nap in molten lava as a mage and sleeping soundly unharmed.

Oh and this at level 8, not level 25 in endgame gear. Mage is full-godmode at merely level 8.

I'm doing the same thing, but using a Mace instead of sword for blunt damage with some slashing.
