I do understand this don't apply when you play online or on servers, but solo, its should be a thing.
No pause was a big pain when Valheim first came out but at least someone made a pause mod for it the first week.
When my 2 year old comes running at me calling out DADDY DADDY and I'm mid battle, I need the ability to hit Esc to pause the game so I can immediately respond to my child. They don't understand "Hold on mate, Dad's fighting this bad guy".
+1, this has happened to me....concerned if it happened in the shroud after considerable gameplay gains. You lose everything. A must have.
I only play when I am undisturbed!!
Have you ever played League of Legends or KAL-Online?
It's on you, not on the game!
If you stand in the wilderness, just find a safe spot with no enemies around. There are not much enemies who roam through half of the map? And if you want it really save, carry an spare altar with you, place it and make a save spot or recall point.
And if you accidently die during a pause, also not a great deal. You loose only a few crafting material, no XP, weapons, armor or things in your quickslots. And if you go to your grave you can get that material back.
