PvP would be nice
So many of these survival/crafting so few are PvP. PvP PvE switching is so good imho

If this had First Person and PvP I'd buy it right now.

If they also had PvP/PvE switching I'd buy 3 copies just to make a point.

Hey gang,

Just to shed some clarity on our intentions:
We're making a third-person, PVE game. It is focused on solo and cooperative play.

Does this mean we will never consider adding PVP? Not necessarily. Sometimes it's fun to just go nuts with your friends. Or pretend we're competing factions trying to restore the kingdom our own way, which is clearly the right one.

However, what we are creating right now is not that. We're focusing our efforts on ensuring the game is fun alone and in groups, working to accomplish the same goals. We already face significant challenges:
- are all of the player types in our target audience going to enjoy this? Are there gameplay loops in the game that are lacking compared to others? Is this fun even if you're not very good at it?
- Is this fun as a solo player? As a group of 16 warrior-monks trained from infancy to defeat multiplayer games? As an occasional duo? How do we keep the challenges fun and rewarding?

If we were to turn on the PVP faucet, we would have to immediately try to tackle problems such as:
- how do I make my character safe from others? Are there safe zones or is it free pvp? Can I protect myself from a player significantly stronger, or a group of raiders? What can they take from me? How much of what I've built can they unmake? How do we ensure people don't cheat? How do we ensure people do not circumvent the protections we've put in place in the first place?

These can be interesting questions, too. To us, however, they are much less important or interesting to answer than the ones that conform to our first vision for a game that's fun with your friends, and also without them.

I hope this makes sense to you! If you were hoping for a PVP game upon release... well there are lots of fun and promising survival PVP games out there!

If Enshrouded isn't the game for you, I have no doubt you will find joy playing something else.

Take care xoxo

so many survival games have come out recently and been pve focused. And many times there has been a few people asking for pvp. And after devs starts to add in pvp and focus less on pve, the game dies completely, losing 90-99% of the player base.. So no, this game should keep focus on pve and not even consider adding pvp, survival co-op games with pve only will have a higher chance of success

Sort of true.... Doing PvP badly does rune a game.

If you cross reference Survival Crafting with Single player you will have many more games as a result than Survival Crafting PvP. Adding in First Person and the list gets into very low numbers then add PvP/PvE switching and now you can see the issue.

Many people love Ark Survival Evolved but Snail has been messing that up as much as possible an people are looking for a replacement. Ascended is likely to be the final FU to the player base so I'm always looking for a good replacement.

I'd rather play solo, because don't have time to find groups and I play odd hours - if the game needs co-op to get through it's a pass from me... Most players are not really into PVP, just because it brings out the very worst of the internet - by which I mean the people feel that they can treat others as if they are just npc's in their life rather than real people.

TLDR = Add 24/7 dedicated PVP areas instead of a forced PVP schedule.

!! Warning wall of text !!

PVE/PVP switching is Ok...but I think a much superior way to implement PVP but keep the game from being just another open world gankfest, would be to add specific dedicated 24/7 PVP areas...instead of just forcing PVP on the entire game for certain times. This way its more player choice then everything being dictated by a PVP schedule, yet there could be very good and fun PVP in these dedicated areas for those who love PVP or just want to watch some good fights.

One way could be PVP arenas/coliseums. These would be medium/smallish sized stone structures kind of like roman amphitheaters. At the main entrance you would either sign up as a gladiator or spectator at the main coliseum NPC, then next your characters name tag would have a mark accordingly while in the coliseum. Gladiator players would then head to a barracks type area and get the standard gladiator gear, then enter a fighters queue until their time to fight. Spectator players would place any initial fight bets they want and then go to the observer seating areas to watch the fights. Gladiators would not only get standard pay from the coliseum itself win or lose(more for wins) but also get a cut of the bets made on them for fights they do win. As gladiators win fights they rank up their gladiator rank nicely and also increasing their winnings more per win. Losing fights would only slightly lower that rank. All gladiator coliseum gear would be the exact same regardless of gladiator rank, and all gladiator players would have their normal player levels set to the same level and all player stats would be the same until they leave the coliseum. The coliseum fights would all purely skill based and no gear or items outside of the standard issued coliseum gear would be allowed during fights. Your gladiator gear would be auto equipped in the barracks area and replace your normal gear during fights, and your normal gear would be re-equipped once you leave the coliseum or choose to take a break from fighting to go spectator. At certain gladiator ranks(10/20/30 etc) there could possibly be a reward of some type, either bonus money and or a piece of normal gear according to your character level to use outside of the coliseum. The same possible rank/rewards system could also be implemented to spectators as well. Possibly small areas behind some of the bars/taverns or in the sewers of some towns/cities in game could be a scaled down less rules but more shady "mini coliseum" areas, but still be basically player choice to fight or spectate/bet.

Another way to implement PVP that would be a good change from the coliseums would be another dedicated 24/7 PVP zone, only these areas would be much less structured and controlled but more chaotic . For example, a haunted forest or haunted ruins. There would be no main entrance and no safe zones(such as coliseum spectator seating) and no betting. Visibility could be limited by fog, dense tree growth, darkness, or even tunnel vision from the raw evil aura of the place. The second you enter this area from any direction possible, it would be full Free For All(FFA) PVP, anyone can attack anyone even your own race/faction. Maybe only being in a group would disable the friendly fire among group mates, as to not accidentally allow attacking group members? The loot rules could be partial or full loot, depending on how extreme/dangerous the area was. In the case of a haunted forest/ruins, there should also be powerful, mini-boss type creatures who randomly spawn and roam the area. These creatures could be werewolfs, windigos, trolls, vampires, ghouls, witches etc that would be too dangerous for any solo player(and mobs should scale to level) and still pretty tough for groups. These random monsters would be enough of a threat, that even the PVPers might have to have a temporary truce just to fight these creatures or even try to avoid them altogether. But the loot drops from these mini-bosses, would be appealing for many players along with the PVP.

The last way I can think of adding PVP would be duels, but I like the other methods better since some players love to "request duel spam".

Sorry for the long descriptions, but the reason I have these ideas is simple. Even though Im not big into PVP any more, I understand over years of gaming that if you can please both PVEers and PVPers yet not have forced PVP, the game will be more successful. Ive seen too many games over the years implement PVP in a way that caused many players to abandon or even avoid buying the game entirely. This game looks very promising. So if they do add PVP I wish it would be in a way similar to the ideas I have above so hopefully it will help the game attract both PVE and PVP players alike, which should help the game succeed by making more money.

Prefer not to have PVP, there are a ton of craft/survival games with PVP already. I'd rather see a brutally difficult PVE world that I can take on solo, or with friends in co-op mode.

The easiest solution for pvp/pve discussion in a game like this: offer pvp servers and pve servers. There are a ton of games out there that miss on a massive playerbase because they do not let people opt out of pvp.

So many games and mmo's have pvp. I'm ok with pvp if theres a off switch.
