broom (player budding day spoilers)

someone please explain what this thing marlo just gave me is for/how to use it. i thought it would let me clean debri myself instead of with a dino, but it doesn't seem to? or i don't know how to make it do that? why was an entirely new tool given to me with zero explanation for how it works.

I had been trying to figure it out myself but just stumbled into it: it "picks up" placed decorations, displacing it all into one of those dropped-item crates. Decorative flowers, fences, dreamstones, and so on all pop outta the ground and crate-ify in one click, and it remains in object-placement mode so you can quickly scoot the broom around to knock lots of stuff off the lawn.
