cancel quest?

is there a way to cancel/give up board quests? i took a bunch for avery and then he disappeared, so now i can't turn them in or get new ones.

Nope. They’re stuck there. It’s extra annoying because if you have a quest someone else gave you but that character has their OWN quest, you’re forced to take their quest first (or in some cases finish it) before you can finish the quest you came to them to do in the first place. It’s very dumb and kind of discourages my already hermit self from talking to people, but there’s a reason for it.

Characters will become ‘pals’ with you over the course of the game as you do more quests for them. Vender characters will offer you discounts, some of them give free dreamstones, etc. The ability to cancel quests would mess with the flow of this friendship meter, so they just don’t offer it. I see the logic but it means the quest journal gets VERY cluttered.

So, sorry, but the quest journal is gonna be messy for a while until you finish all those. Oops

hrm, i don't see how the spoilered system would be affected by canceling quests tho. unless you're referring to the story quests specifically? those it would make sense not to be able to cancel, but you should absolutely be able to cancel the optional board quests. this is SUPER annoying cuz i don't think avery is gonna show up again until next YEAR, and the side quests i can't get would be so good for helping me afford my dinos :/

I dunno how it would be affected by canceled quests either, but I think it's just their way of making the quest progression more linear. It doesn't really make sense to me either, I have a quest to get a quill for Owynn and haven't been able to figure it out so the quest has been stuck there for half a year lol

oh geez. do you want help with that? it's such a weird quest cuz there's other lost item quests already that work totally differently from that one. the help in case you want it; you have to talk to mari and then agami to get the quill

Ah, yes, the task 'talk to the townsfolk about the quill' totally tells me I have to talk to Mari and Agami. This game is so vague oml but this is the only quest I've had actual trouble with lol

Got the quill by talking to Agami. Now that dumb quest that's been there for a whole year is finally done.

Why do you even need a specific quill, Owynn, just pluck one of Bongo's feathers and use it as a quill

lol seriously. also he's such a plan-oriented, practical guy, it really doesn't make sense that he'd have just one. i'd expect him to have way MORE than he needs in case he lost it!

You can find Avery out in the desert like that's all you have to do, it's going to take a minute but literally as soon as you open up the archway and you make your way to the desert he's there all the time

No he’s not. We figured out that Avery disappears for the entirety of the Triassea season (his location bio says ‘distant lands’). So try not to accept quests from him in Triassea, ‘cause you ain’t finishing them until Jurassos.

yeah no that's straight up false. maybe after a certain point in the story he'll hang out there, but he was gone for an entire month for me and i visited the desert town every day.

I think the fact Avery first appears in the game when you start your first Jurassos month should’ve been a clue that this idiot is absent for Triassea every year, not just the first year lol

i think he was actually missing for a lot of jurassos and cretumnus for me, but now i've forgotten. i had assumed he was like orani and would just be in the desert when he wasn't in town, but nope. that'd be too convenient!

Well for sure he rarely (if at all) appears during Triassea. A solution would’ve just been to have Avery’s task board quests not appear until he’s back in the game map. That way we won’t have 4 Avery quests stacked on top of each other because he went off to Nunya for a while month lol
