FREEZING Befriending the Corythosaurus

Is anyone experiencing this freeze??

There is a corythosaurus you have to befriend after following tracks from town. I've have attempted this quest multiple times and each time the game freezes in the animation after it eats the poppin treat.


I finally got it, you don't befriend it. Put that b**** to sleep and without your notebook open walk up close enough to trigger the interaction icon. This prompt your script realizinh is a Cory. You can then go talk to Mari to fix the task

are you really supposed to befriend it? i remember a very similar quest and i never had to befriend it, just register that i interacted with it/talk to mari about it.

I don't think you're 'supposed' to befriend the Corythosaurus heading away from town. The quest prompts you to track its footprints, realize it isn't a Parasaur and talk to Mari about it. Although, it's pretty funny that the game's reaction to taming a scripted dinosaur encounter is to freeze. Maybe because there's no code that should permit Cory to be there for anything but the quest and it gets confused when you tame it lol

I don't think you're 'supposed' to befriend the Corythosaurus heading away from town. The quest prompts you to track its footprints, realize it isn't a Parasaur and talk to Mari about it. Nothing seems to happen when I find the Corythosaurus which is why I tried to befriend it (ended up with a freeze, same as OP). I don't know how to continue the quest as a result. (I did try speaking to Mari immediately after finding it on another attempt and she had nothing to say).

I got stuck on this step of the quest for a while. You have to soothe it (make it fall asleep) and then interact with it (pull out your journal). I had to do that a couple times before the quest finally advanced.

Apparently, trying to tame it will 100% freeze the game.

literally just had the exact same thing happen to me.

so yeah, the dinos related to tracks on the ground are not befriendable, period. for the quests, you just interact with the dino (no flute needed, just walk up to it and click), and even after you do that it remains un-befriendable.

ikr? there's a ton of other pretty big bugs too (like the invisible objects on the ranch, and how the allisaurus you have to tame to show mari and owyn isn't the right model at the start of the cutscene it feels SUPER rushed.

i'm pretty sure you don't even need to put it to sleep or use your notebook, you can just run up to it and click
