As for the reconnect - the game supports reconnect so as long as steam has the lobby saved in the system you should be able to reconnect after either a crash or regular disconnect. It never works for you or just sometimes doesn't work?
You’ll be able to resume from your last floor.
Not the best solution, but still better than redo your whole run because of a crash/bug.
If there is not a way for someone to reconnect after a crash, then at least add a way for the remaining party members to invite someone back to the battle.
This sounds weird, but what you need to do is hit "back to battle" and it will scare you with a prompt like, "your friend can no longer rejoin if you do," just accept that. Then you'll need to go to the menu and hit "leave session". This will take you to the main menu and your character will be saved at the start of the battle, which is where your friend's character will be saved if they ever fully DC.
When you load your character, you can re-invite your friends and start from the beginning of the fight.
Important;
- If a character is dead when their friends leave, it will automatically end the run for them.
- DO NOT hit "Retire" or "Retreat" in the menu. That will end the run for you.
We know what to do to do exactly what you described. Except much simpler. By pressing the retreat button. The ones who didn't disconnect will return to lobby at the floor everyone's at. Then you can reinvite the disconnected player. Start the battle back over. THE GOAL OF THIS POST IS TO ESTABLISH A WAY NOT TO HAVE TO RESTART THE BATTLE. Because there IS a way, namely, if a SIMPLE disconnect happened, reconnecting to the servers leads to a prompt asking if you would like to rejoin the session. This will put you back into battle where you disconnected and you and your friends can continue where you left off. The issue here is I WANT THAT SAME OPTION IF I CRASH TO DESKTOP AND OPEN THE GAME BACK UP.
Please, people, you're not providing any help here. We know what our options are. We know how to return to the lobby and restart the battle. We know how to not retire characters. I've crashed this game so many times I'm familiar with the process and what to do to get back to it. I'm just hoping the devs can put into a place a system where if someone randomly "leaves" (read: crashes to desktop) the battle, they can reconnect once the game is rebooted. Allowing a way for us to join through Steam manually (using the "Join Game" button) would be nice. But I don't know how that works on the backend.
