Veteran Pin with Tinkerer
I enjoy the mechanics of the Tinkerer, but specifically when it comes to the Veteran Pin that you get after mastering a class, it can be a bit annoying to re-roll a character 6 or more times in a row just to get a single card that will allow you to deal damage, be it a card that gives screws so you can use cards that cost them or to get a card that gives you a core and a card that turns cores into screws or uses cores for damage, and while there are cards that just require mana, I find those odds to be very low from my own experience. The randomness alongside the need for specific cards to work together, does annoy me when I have to keep creating new characters even though I very much so enjoy letting the game build me a deck and using whatever messed up hands I get to beat the odds and win.

I know balancing is a big focus of the game, but I am curious as to if there will be a solution to this or if it will be deemed too minor of an issue

this is the only class that the pin needs some tailoring. it NEEDS to have a core generator. the rest should be random fully.

I wish all veteran pins would work like a drafting system rather than it pick for us.

This would be ideal...

or at least the same choices as the NPC classes... frost mage, cleric, enchanter, etc...
I mean, i would love to start as a cleric, with starters geared toward support.

It would also give them an oppertunity to make NPC classes out of the dragon mage, and Zombie mage so that each SKIN effected the starting cards when you pick the PIN.

or leave the zombie as the one thats random cards, and thustly why they didnt survive.

That's a cool idea! Will discuss this with the team.

In other news we are about to release a balance update that will make Tinkerer less reliant on specific cards.

This would be a perfect final unlock for all classes :D

We all love the idea and decided to put work into prototyping it. So fingers crossed it works out :archduck:

That's great to hear Konstanty. I feel like the veteran pin as it is now is just too RNG and doesn't enable us to strategize or anything. If it could let us choose all the cards based on the type of cards it currently gives us/their rarity, it would feel like we have more agency in how a run works and give greater strategical depth.
Of course this would make for certain builds to become more dominant, but that's standard for this type of game.

Also, at higher level torment levels, some of the veteran pin cards simply won't let you make it past the first level either, and having to recreate a character constantly makes it a drag. I'm on torment 16 and you won't survive off of 3 marking cards/3 bucklers/1 sharp arrow.

I don't want to commit yet but so far it looks like the new artifact with card drafting will made it into the game :archduck:

Nice :)
How will the drafting be done? Will you get offered card rewards? So, basically 4 card rewards for starter, 4 for common and 1 for rare?

Nothing is set in stone, but probably card rewards at start. We are not yet sure if it will be a choice by rarity (so 1 out of 3 starters, then 1 out of 3 rare), by type (1 out of 3 skills, then attacks and so on) or a mix of both.
