Retiring and "Add Cards to my Starting Deck"
I had a bit of a big brain moment playing rogue when I thought, "hey, wouldn't it be good if I had a couple of extra cards at the start". So I did a run where my sole aim was to ensure that whenever there was an option at the end of a level to add a card from your deck to your starting hand, I took it (fanny bag artifact basically)

Did pretty well, got a few. Finished level 8 and was on almost no health with only a single companion, so I decided to retire. I got the XP but not my retained cards.

Is this expected behaviour or am I misinterpreting those cards? Or did I have to walk into the level and get killed and not retire? Cause that doesn't seem "right".

Thats what i thought to till i figured out it was for the start of the battles in that run only
Still pretty awesome tho
would love to have a little more control on new charcters when it comes to starting cards...maybe make em cost gems as well....tie it into the same way you get artifacts somehow......i really aint figured out how you get starting artifacts yet...even tho i can choose 1 extra 1 from when i first started

You can't take cards from one run to another. Artifacts which cost your starting gems are the only thing to change your starting deck.
